HOUSE MUSIC IS LOVE

Thirteen odd years ago a music video came out which destroys me emotionally every time. Makes me so happy! 

Blind Faith by Chase & Status is perfect. I turned 50 this year, which is a pain in the arse, but meant that I was one of the very, very lucky and plucky few who got to live the early rave scene; the second summer of love. The video will give you a crystal clear encapsulation of our Saturday nights.

And we did live it. It was all we thought about. We saved our school dinner money all week to have enough to get in the club. When we couldn't get a lift, we’d hire a mini bus; when that fell through we did things I would not not to write down as evidence. 

We drove in convoy from secret meeting points. When the police closed motorway exits, we parked on the hard shoulder and walked across farmers fields to warehouse parties.

Nothing would stop us dancing, smiling, being one people, one love. We were changing the world. Truth is that in the end we did change the world, but only to make some people rich.

But I still believe.

House music is love.
