With summer coming to an end, if you think there is no space for flamboyant fashion in your autumn wardrobe Manchester-based blogger Libby Faulkner will prove you wrong. You are known for your bold prints and colours, how did you achieve this aesthetic?

I have always loved dressing in bright colours ever since I was younger but I think my style came into its own a bit more when I went to Uni in Leeds. Leeds has such a huge dynamic fashion scene and everyone always just wore whatever they wanted which definitely opened my eyes to dressing fun and expressing myself. My hair has helped as well - I think when your hair is bright you wanna match the outfits to it haha!

How do you find inspiration for what to wear/buy?

I get a lot of inspo from other creators online on instagram and TikTok but as well as that I think just the streets of Manchester where I live now. I do like Pinterest but I find a lot of neutral outfits on there so I only really use it for tattoo and hair inspo!

What are your top picks of A/W 21?

I got some knee high boots from Urban Outfitters and they will be attached to me for the whole of A/W - they are so comfy and make any outfit look so much more fun. I also have a faux leather coat from last year which is something I can't wait to wear again! I don't tend to just buy what's trendy and then never wear it again as I think it's super wasteful so I just buy what I like and wear it to death.

You’ve recently had an influx of followers, has this negatively affected you in any way?

Not really, I think there is always pressure to post and to make sure you are staying on top of your content but that's my job now at the end of the day so I don't feel negatively affected by it. There are always going to be people who don't like what you are doing but that's just life so I let them get on with it and don't let it worry me.

Do you think Instagram or TikTok is best for growing your audience?

I think a combo of both but definitely video content - my influx of followers came widely from TikTok but then grew at its peak from Reels! I had a reel that got 300k+ views and it got me over 10k new followers so don't underestimate the power of creating good video content that could just accidentally go viral!

What would be your advice as someone starting out as a content creator?

Have fun and don't get disheartened if things don't perform how you want. Often photos of me in the mirror or having a drink on a night out perform way better than the curated content I go out and get on shoot days, don't take yourself too seriously or your audience won't connect with you.
