CREATIVE SPOTLIGHT - DREW WYLLIE
Multidisciplinary creative and activist Drew Wyllie is known for his empowering youtube videos and iconic photoshoots. If he isn’t creating hilarious podcasts with Comecurious you can find him exploring his sexuality on Tiktok. We spoke to him about his journey thus far...
What does being a creative mean to you?
being a creative is all about EXPRESSION.
Expressing who you are, what you stand for, and incorporating how you feel about something into something beautiful!
You should always make art for yourself and no one else - give yourself the freedom to create and you are a creative 🙂
What do you hope to educate people about with your content?
That your sexuality is your greatest gift and that the only acceptance you need is from yourself!
I think its really important to be open and OWN your experiences, you never know who is watching/consuming your content and how its benefiting them and potentially changing their life and perspective.
You often work with come-curious how did this relationship come about?
I was invited on to the f**ks given podcast in feb of 2019, and after talking about my sexual escapades and experiences was asked to become one of the full time team. Since then I have produced weekly posts/images/igtvs all about being bisexual and loving yourself! deffo check it out - @comecurious
How long did it take for you to become your authentic self and how did you achieve this?
OH GOD... I still think to this day I'm still embodying more of my truest self. I think being authentic comes with backing yourself and saying fuck you to society that tries to put you into a box. I always wanted to be straight, and to 'fit in' before realising that being bisexual is a gift and I should appreciate my differences more!
My road to being authentic honestly started with daily meditations in the morning, bit of yoga and getting a journal to write down all my emotions. We have to deal with so much darkness and trauma before we come out the otherside a brand new person! loving yourself is a journey not a destination x
What advice would you give to your younger self?
To never change and that you are perfect the way you are. Fuck what other people think and say - BE YOU because you are special and no one else is like you. You are an icon living honey xxx never forget x
Who is changing the face of the industry in your opinion?
I think the changing face is all the amazing young people that are changing the game for the better!!
I am so proud to be a part of the Gen Z movement of creatives that don't give a fuck and want standards and stereotypes to change. babe x we've put up with so much bullshit for so long it's time to stand out be different and unapologetically ourselves. LOVE WHO YOU ARE ❤️
